FAQ

LAB CREATED MOISSANITE

Lab created moissanite are grown in highly controlled laboratory environments using advanced technological processes that duplicate the conditions under which moissanite naturally develop. Lab created moissanite display the same physical, chemical, and optical characteristics as natural diamonds, and exhibit the same fire, scintillation, and sparkle. Lab created moissanite offer excellent value and are a responsible choice as they do not require any diamond mining.

LAB CREATED DIAMOND

Lab grown diamonds are real diamonds.
Lab grown diamonds are composed of crystallised carbon just like natural diamonds so the two have the same appearance and the same physical, chemical and optical characteristics. Lab-grown diamonds are created using extreme pressure and heat inside a machine rather than the bowels of the Earth. Lab grown diamonds are identical to earth mined diamonds in every way, except that they are grown in a lab. They have the same chemical, physical, and optical properties as mined diamonds however, they are free from all forms of conflict, they do not impose ecological harm and damage to our environment and they do not require any diamond mining.

WHAT IS A CONFLICT DIAMOND?

Conflict diamonds, according to the most common definition, are diamonds used by rebel groups to finance civil wars. In addition to civil wars, diamond mining today is plagued by a range of shocking ethical abuses. These include violence by governments, child labor, extreme poverty, and environmental devastation. At The Prestwick Place, we believe that the diamond mining industry should be abolished. In light of this we are committed to building a brighter future through diamond education and environmental contributions of our lab-created stones.

HOW DO NATURAL DIAMONDS / DIAMOND MINING IMPACT THE ENVIRONMENT?

Diamond mining has  detrimental impacts on the environment including but not limited to soil erosion, deforestation, and ecosystem destruction. A major political effect of the diamond commodity chain, specifically at the mining level is blood diamonds. In addition to this, mineral resource exploitation causes irreversible damage to the natural environment shown through negative impacts on water resources, air quality, wildlife, soil quality, and climate change consideration.
